Day 4- Magic Kingdom I made sure to wake up on time on this morning. This was the only day that I was going to be more strict with my park touring plan. There were a lot of rides we wanted to do at Magic Kingdom and waiting in lines for too long would keep us at the park longer than I wanted to be there. So, of course, I couldn’t get the boys to get out of bed and get dressed to save my life! After a little effort, I got both boys up and ready to head to the bus stop…20 minutes later than I planned. Eh, it could have been worse.
The rope drop show was just ending as we entered the ticket turnstiles at about 8a.m. I’d wanted to see the rope drop show, but I’ll settle for getting there a couple of minutes after rope drop! As soon as we walked through the tunnel/walkway under the train station, I started smiling from ear to ear. I LOVE that first look at Main Street and Cinderella Castle at the end of the road! The sights, the sounds, even the people make everything feel perfect! Every. Single. Time. It never gets old! We made our way towards the Hub and we all knew that it was Game On!
Space Mountain was first on the agenda. Well, at least for Zadrin. Zethan loves Rockin’ Roller Coaster, but he no longer likes Space Mountain. And for some reason, I got a little nauseous the last time I rode Space Mountain, so I wasn’t in any rush to ride this year. So the plan was for Zadrin to ride Space Mountain while Zethan and I went to do Tomorrowland Speedway. There was no wait here. We walked right on and into a car. Zethan loves this ride!
We had a blast on the Speedway track and then we left and strolled back towards Space Mountain to wait for Zadrin in the gift shop located at the end of the ride. Zethan wanted to ride the Peoplemover (aka Tomorrowland Transit Authority) before we went to wait, but I noticed that it wasn’t moving and I didn’t know if it just wasn’t open yet or what. I didn’t want to get on the Peoplemover and it end up breaking down or something and have Zadrin looking for us and/or delay my touring plan and therefore get us waiting in long lines later. There’s a game room attached to the Space Mountain gift shop, so I gave Zethan some money to play some games while we waited. Zethan also bought his second cap of the trip! He likes getting caps from Disney World (then he wears them on hat days at school!).
Maybe it’s because I was shelling out money for arcade games, but it felt like we waited forever for Zadrin to ride Space Mountain. It really was only about 10 minutes, but since I was raring to move on to the next ride, it seemed more like an hour. Once he finally emerged from the ride exit, we got in the short line to add his ride photo to our Attractions+ card. There was only one family in front of us who was already being helped, but a man walked around me like I wasn’t even there and got in front of me after I had already been standing in line. I’m pretty non-confrontational, but I made an audible sigh of disbelief. The man was oblivious (or he just didn’t care) and the boys both looked at me like they were wondering if I had an answer to why this man cut in front of us. I just shook my head to let them know I wasn’t going to make a big deal out of this. No line cutters, or anyone else, were gonna ruin the Magic for me!
I did get to thinking about the situation though… I was wondering, “Do I not stand close enough in line to signal to others that I’m actually IN line?” Things that make you go Hmmmmm…. My train of thought was interrupted by a CM who touched my shoulder and said “I can help you over here!” This kind Cast Member came outta no where and lead me around to a closed work station which he started up and cheerfully added the ride photo to my card! I thanked him and we left Space Mountain. I wasn’t going to make a big stink about the line cutter anyway, but I was glad this CM saw what happened and helped me the way he did. I didn’t even look over at Mr. Cutter Man to see his reaction, but secretly I wanted to strut past him waving my Attractions+ card and chanting, “Oh yeah! Oh yeah! Woo hoo! Woo hoo!” and doing over-exaggerated dance moves to show him that I got helped first despite his line cutting move. Anywho, here’s Zadrin’s ride photo. I wonder why Zadrin’s ride companions look like this was just a boring ride to work on public transit….
So while we’re walking away from Space Mountain, Zethan pointed out that the Peoplemover was moving now but I told him we weren’t getting on that yet. He looked at me like I was crazy. I told him, “Don’t worry! We’re riding it later! Right now we need to get to Winnie the Pooh.” Both boys were questioning us riding The Adventures of Winnie the Pooh, but it’s been years since we rode this. As a matter of fact, I don’t think Zethan had ever been on it. I think they automatically considered this ride to be for toddlers, but mark my words People: Magic Kingdom rides know no age! Ok, well some rides have height restrictions and it’s not like you’re gonna take an infant on the coaster style rides, but you know what I mean!! So Winnie the Pooh, here we come!
The wait time was only 10 minutes, but the interactive queue made it seem like even less than that. After we got off of the ride, the boys were smiling and they both admitted that it wasn’t so bad. From here we headed over to Peter Pan’s Flight. This is yet another ride that Zethan had never been on. And it was yet another ride that the boys were skeptical about but ended up enjoying. I mean, come on! It has pirates, and a crocodile, and Peter Pan! What’s not to like? There was only a 10 minute wait here too! Wham, bam, thank you Pan!
I wanted to go ahead and ride It’s a Small World since there was only a 5 minute wait, but both boys in unison gave me a resounding “NOOOOOOO!” when I asked if they wanted to ride this. Whatever! But I’m riding it next time! It’s a small world, after all! Does anyone want to guess what we rode next?? 🙂
See Ya Real Soon!
