I’m pretty sure I’ve mentioned this before, but I’m one of those people that gets excited about almost any new attraction or perk that Disney adds to the parks. There are a few things I’m less than thrilled about…like MagicBands, FastPass+ and the removal of Edy’s Ice Cream at The Fountainview Cafe at Epcot to put in a Starbucks. Ugh…I shouldn’t have reminded myself about those…
Anywho, I have mixed emotions right now because last week Disney World broke ground on Avatarland in Animal Kingdom and then I learned that the legacy FastPass system is going buh-bye at Magic Kingdom on January 14th. THIS is one of the places I read about the FP stuff.
I’m excited about Avatarland! It’ll give us more to do at Animal Kingdom and considering there was supposed to be a fantasy aspect of AK when it was first created, I think this is a nice addition. I probably would have enjoyed the Beastly Kingdom thing that was to include dragons better, but Avatarland will work!
As for the disappearance of the legacy FastPasses….Oy…..I’m having another bout of Disney Anxiety where that’s concerned! When they took legacy FPs away in Animal Kingdom, I didn’t care. The thought of no legacy FPs at Epcot or Disney’s Hollywood Studios? Eh, I’ll live. But Magic Kingdom….that’s a completely different story. If you read my March 2013 trip report (the post with all the links to my trip report is HERE) you know that I don’t enjoy waiting in long lines while I’m at Walt Disney World. And Magic Kingdom is the one park that I would need/want to use more FastPasses to avoid lines over 30 minutes.
So on the one hand, I’m happy that Avatarland is officially in the works, but this no more legacy FastPasses in Magic Kingdom thing is jacking with my Disney World Loving brain. My Disney OCD is getting a work out for sure! I need a vacation from planning my vacation…
On a completely unrelated, and random, note…I really want to see The Lego Movie when it comes out!! That is all… 🙂
See Ya Real Soon!
