Split Stays at Disney World

In a previous post, I talked about how I started taking what I called “solo” trips to Disney World. In reality it was more of just me going to meet some friends at Disney but it was without my kids so it felt like a solo trip. Anywho, the point is that when I started to do these trips, I had my first split stays where I stayed at more than one Disney World resort hotel during one visit.

By now, I’ve done a split stay a few times and I think I still have mixed feelings about them. On the one hand, if my travel plans end up getting me to Walt Disney World later in the day or at night, it just makes more sense to me to save money by staying that arrival night at a Value resort. This was especially true for the couple of times where I took a flight that landed in Orlando after 10pm. No reason to pay for a higher priced room when I’m arriving at the resort hotel after midnight.

I also did a couple of splits where my friends and I stayed a night or two at one Deluxe resort and then another night or two at a second Deluxe resort. The fun part of those trips was getting to stay in Deluxe rooms at two different resorts.

Either way, I had to make sure to pack up my stuff and leave it either at bell services before I went to the parks or take it to the car. It’s not that big of a deal to do that, but depending on my travel party, it can be a bit of a chore. When it was just me, with my friends, we all just had to worry about our own stuff. The couple of times that I did a split stay with my kids, I ended up regretting doing so just because with the three of us, we had a lot more luggage to move. We drove to Disney for those trips so we just put everything in the car, but I also packed more so even with three of us, we had a lot more to take from one resort room to the other.

I’m still up for doing split stays again in the future, but the last time that I did one, I stayed at three different resorts during the week and it wore me out. I think I’m gonna have to stick with just two different resorts if I do a split stay again. Of course, at this point, I’m gonna be happy just to get back to Disney World at all. °O°
