If you read the previous trip report post, you’ll probably remember that I had just visited Zawadi Marketplace in Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge resort with my cousin Sasha and her wife. After we left Zawadi Marketplace, we decided to go take a look at the animal in the savannah viewing spot out behind the main lobby. I actually stayed here in 2021 in a DVC value one bedroom villa with Sasha and Chastity, and I’ve stayed a few more times before that in regular rooms and a deluxe studio. I really love this resort! There’s so much to look at both inside and outside of the lobby area.
Once we were done looking around, we headed back to Old Key West to drop me off to my room. My mom, my sons and I all had dinner in the room and then I decided I needed to go take a look at the Old Key West Hospitality House for information about the bus for the runDisney 5k the next morning. I also wanted to take a look around since I hadn’t really looked at the main pool or the Conch Flats General Store. I didn’t realize Conch Flats was so small. I think it’s the smallest gift shop I’ve been to at a Disney World resort so far. It felt even smaller than Fantasia at the Contemporary, but it was nice to see so much resort themed merchandise. They also had no 50th anniversary themed mint tins here (if you haven’t read my previous installments of this trip report, I was on the hunt for a tin of mints with the 50th anniversary print on it), and I was saving my money for EPCOT day on Saturday, so I left empty-handed.
I walked around the area near the hospitality house for a little while. It was a very nice evening. The weather was perfect at that time and I really wished I had been at a park at that time, but it was nice just spending it at the resort.
After my short visit to the Hospitality House, I went back to my room. It was time to relax and get ready to try to go to sleep early since my son Zethan and I had to be up around 3am for the 5k. I was trying to get to sleep by 9:00 but it was after 10:00 before I fell asleep. I kept waking up every couple of hours after that. I do that sometimes when I need to be up early for something, so needless to say, I didn’t get a great night’s sleep.
Before I knew it, my alarm was going off and it was time to get up and get ready to catch the bus to EPCOT for the runDisney Wine & Dine 5k. My next trip report installment will cover the 5k! Hope to see you there! °O°
