A Different Disney World Vacation

In all my years of being able to visit the Walt Disney World resort, I’ve always visited all four parks during my stay. Even the year that I traveled to the Orlando area for my college graduation in 2019, my sons and I park hopped for the one and only day that we went to Disney World and we went to all four parks. Is going to all four parks necessary for a Disney World vacation? No. However, I’ve always loved going to all of the parks and never had the desire to skip any park altogether. To be clear, I still have no desire to skip any Disney World park during my upcoming visit, but because of recent circumstances and unexpected events in my life, I’m about to have my first visit where I will not be visiting all four parks.

One of my sons and I have registered for and will be participating in the runDisney Wine & Dine race weekend 5k next month. To be honest, if we hadn’t already paid the race registration fees, I’d probably cancel this trip. But since the runDisney race fees are non-refundable, I decided we’re just going to adjust our plans. We’re only going to be visiting EPCOT during this trip. I’ll admit that it feels weird to even say that we’re only going to one park during this trip, but also, I think it will be a way more relaxing and less tiring vacation.

We’re still planning to do other non-park related things, like go to Disney Springs, play miniature golf at one of Disney’s miniature golf courses, and resort hop. Race packet pick-up day allows us to go into the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex that’s located on Disney World property. I’ve been before because of past runDisney races that I’ve participated in, but my sons have never been there so that gives them something new to see. And of course we can go see off-site attractions in the Orlando area if we want.

We’ve decided on EPCOT as the one park we’re going to because I really want my sons to ride Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind, they haven’t been on the Remy ride, and Boyz II Men will be performing during the Eat to the Beat Concert Series and I love Boyz II Men! Both of my sons were like, “Who’s that?” Ok, I’m exaggerating, but not by much.

Other than that, we’ll be spending more time relaxing in our villa at Disney’s Old Key West resort and I’m fine with that. It just seems weird to be there and only going to one park, but I’ll just add this to my list of things I’ve never done at Disney World, and then check it off my list during this stay.

I’ll be posting about my trip once I get back and I’ll be vlogging the entire trip and uploading it to my YouTube channel too. So that means more real blog posts and more trip vlogs on my YouTube! Over the next few weeks I’ll also be posting about how I’m preparing and packing for this trip! Maybe it will inspire me to keep posting more than my Cheat Day posts. 😃
