March 2021 Disney World Trip Report- Part 6

Welcome back to the next part of my trip report! I left off last time with us having lunch at Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Cafe. And I didn’t take pictures of our food because burgers and chicken nuggets just don’t strike me as exciting food photos but someone told me I should have taken pictures anyway… 🤷‍♀️

Anyway, after we had lunch, Sasha and Chastity wanted to ride Mad Tea Party. I’ve done the tea cups before so I already knew that I always get nauseous on this ride unless we intentionally keep the tea cup from spinning, and what fun is that for someone who’s never been on this before? So, I decided to sit this one out while they rode it. But I still got some video and pictures. Here’s one of the pictures I took.

Once they were finished here, we checked wait times on the My Disney Experience app and the wait for Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin had gone down to about 35 minutes so we decided to go ahead and head over there. The line moved pretty quickly and it was less than the posted wait by the time we got on the ride.

After defeating Zurg, we decided to walk back over to Fantasyland so that Sasha and Chastity could ride Dumbo. I had just ridden Dumbo in January and it’s not a priority for me, so I let them head that way to ride Dumbo while I found a restroom and then casually made my way to Fantasyland to wait for them.

From there, we decided to go ahead and ride Under the Sea – Journey of The Little Mermaid since we were so close to the end of the line there. I don’t even remember what the wait time was showing for this, but we waited around 40 minutes or so for this one. This is another ride that I’m indifferent about, but it was kind of hot that day and I decided this would be great to ride and get in the A/C for a bit. I do really like songs from The Little Mermaid, so that helped too.

Next, we needed some water and a break because Chastity’s feet were hurting and my knee was bothering me even with my knee brace on so we decided to get something from Gaston’s Tavern! This worked out well since I forgot to visit this place during my January trip. The fountain outside had no water but I didn’t care about that, I was just happy to check out the snacks here.

As it turns out, there wasn’t anything I really wanted to have as a snack here. I was mostly just thirsty but I didn’t find the contents of LeFou’s Brew to sound very tasty, so I only ended up getting water. Speaking of which, I have been taking advantage of getting free cups of ice water where available in all of the parks (you know, because it sucks paying over $3 for one bottle of water, and I also don’t like how Dasani tastes) but I found that the ice water this trip did not taste very good. I ended up buying Dasani bottled water instead because of the bad taste of the ice water. I don’t know if it was no longer filtered or what, but it was just not refreshing because of the taste. #firstworldproblems

After sitting and re-hydrating a bit, we looked at wait times to see what Sasha and Chastity wanted to do next. The line for Seven Dwarfs Mine Train was about as low as we had seen it so far that day (it was about 45 minutes) so we headed for the queue there. Because of social distancing, the line seemed way longer as it wrapped around the back of the ride and we could see the end of the line across from Gaston’s Tavern. We waited pretty much the full 45 minutes, but I still enjoyed riding this short ride.

As you can see, Disney is using every row on this ride now.

Once we were done here, Sasha and Chastity looked at the list of rides in the app to see what was left that they were interesting in doing. They decided they wanted to head to Pirates of the Caribbean, but on the way they wanted to stop and get in line to watch Country Bear Jamboree. This is one of the One and Done attractions that I forgot about when I originally was discussing those in my previous posts. I’ve seen Country Bear Jamboree a couple of times when I was school aged, but it was always kind of weird to me and I’ve never even had my kids watch this. I know a lot of people love this because it’s a classic, but it was still weird to me.

On the bright side, we were able to get a decent view of a cavalcade while we were in line for Country Bear Jamboree.

With this show out of the way, we headed over to the queue for Pirates of the Caribbean. I don’t even remember what the posted wait time was for this but it took us around an hour to get through the queue and ride Pirates. We saw Jack Sparrow quietly walking around when were first in line.

By the time we left Pirates, we decided it was time for another break and snack. We found a place to sit near Swiss Family Treehouse and the ladies got something from Sunshine Tree Terrace. During our little break, I made a couple of new friends:

No relation to Donald…I asked.

We determined we were done with all of the rides that Sasha and Chastity wanted to do in Magic Kingdom, but they realized they wanted to walk through Cinderella Castle and then check out the Emporium on Main Street on our way out. So we went ahead and went back to Fantasyland so that we could walk through the castle on the way to Main Street.

The last stop was at The Emporium before we headed back to the room. I didn’t buy anything because I would rather do shopping with my sons during our upcoming May trip. Oh, and I also stopped by Guest Services at City Hall in Magic Kingdom on the way out to get an updated Annual Passholder card because the one I’ve been using for the past few years was outdated and I got scolded by a grouchy Cast Member about it in The Emporium. But that’s a story for another day!

We spent the rest of the evening relaxing in the room at Animal Kingdom Villas Jambo House to prepare for the next park day, which was Animal Kingdom, in case you hadn’t already figured that out. The next part of the trip report will be in a few more days! °O°
