My “One and Done” Rides at Disney World- Enchanted Tiki Room

There are some attractions/rides at Walt Disney World resort that I don’t care about that much and once I’ve done them, I’m happy with only having done them that one time. Here’s post #3 featuring one of my One and Done worthy rides at Disney World.

Enchanted Tiki Room (Magic Kingdom)

Is this show even still open?

Just kidding, I know it is and I know there are still a lot of people who like to sit in air conditioned comfort to watch this, but I was done with Enchanted Tiki Room ages ago. Ok, so this is a show and not an actual “ride,” but non-the-less, I haven’t done this one since I was a kid. My parents liked this show which is described on the Walt Disney World website as “Tropical birds, Tiki gods and colorful flowers come to life in a swinging South Seas musical extravaganza.” But after maybe 3 trips where we watched this, I asked if I could just sit somewhere and wait for them to go see the Tiki Room show because I wasn’t that into it.

I will admit, the animatronics were great when I first saw this and that dang song they sing is catchy as all get out… 🎵 In the tiki tiki tiki tiki tiki room, in the tiki tiki tiki tiki tiki room, all the birds sing words and the flowers croon, in the tiki tiki tiki tiki tiki room. 🎵♪

Sorry, even though I don’t watch this show anymore, that’s still a song I can enjoy every once in a while. Anyway, so I decided long ago that this was a one and done for me, and my kids have never watched this show. They may not even be aware of its existence. Hmmm…sounds like I may need to force encourage them to watch it at least once, you know, just for the experience (kind of like I did when I realized they’d never been on The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh 6 or 7 years ago).

I can also admit that the show is pretty cute, I just didn’t ever love it enough to keep going back to it. I never saw the “Under New Management” version with Iago and Zazu and still didn’t go watch it after the 2011 fire caused Disney to change the show back to (mostly) the original version. After all these years, it’ll be interesting to see if I feel any differently about this show when I force encourage my sons to watch it with me in an upcoming trip next year. But for now, I’m adding Enchanted Tiki Room to my One and Done list. °O°
