I’m admittedly what some refer to as an On-Site Snob when I go to Walt Disney World. For anyone who isn’t sure what that means, well, it simply means that I prefer to stay on-site at a Disney World Resort hotel. Actually I guess I should say it means someone ONLY stays on-site and won’t stay at any hotel or rental off WDW property. I’m not 100% against staying off-site. I’ve done it several times when my parents were paying for the family vacation. But once my mom decided to try the Disney Value resort hotels, we pretty much only stayed on-site ever since. Once I had my kids and was paying for my own WDW vacations, I decided staying on-site was just the best for me.
I’m tempted to go into all of the reasons I prefer to stay on-site (Magical Express, using Disney Transportation to/from parks, Extra Magic Hours, to name a few) but I’ll save that for another post. The real point of this post is that yes, I like to stay on-site and I also find the Value resorts to suit my needs just fine. I’ve stayed at all of the All Star Resorts, but after our first stay at Pop Century, Pop definitely became our favorite. So naturally, when the news of the new Value resort- Disney’s Art of Animation Resort- came out, I was super excited! Now that it has opened, I vowed we would stay in a Standard room at Art of Animation (which is primarily Family Suites) in December 2012.
I weighed all of the pricing options and decided on what I would book with the hopes that there might be a discount available that I can add later. This is actually unlikely considering the week I’m going is the week before Christmas, but a girl can dream… Anyway, I was all set to go ahead and book when a little Disney voice in my head whispered “What about renting DVC points?” The thought stopped me dead in my tracks, or rather in my typing. I’ve been contemplating this for a couple of years now but I only checked out renting points for a Disney Vacation Club resort that was still going to cost me well over what my tried and true Value would, so I nixed the idea at the time.
After doing a lot more research and asking questions, I found that if I can rent points from a DVC owner, I can stay at a value studio at Animal Kingdom Villas for LESS than Art of Animation!! I’m so excited I could barf! So now I’m working with a few different people that are helping me find an owner so that maybe I can rent points for my trip dates! I’ll keep you posted!
See Ya Real Soon!
